Midvalley Express (MVX) Celebrates Grand Opening

The Midvalley Express (MVX) is officially up and running! UDOT employees recently joined UTA at the Murray Central Station to celebrate the MVX grand opening, marking a major step forward for transit across the Salt Lake Valley.

With 15 new stations, including stops just outside the Calvin Rampton Complex and the Taylorsville State Office Building, the MVX offers a game-changing commute for UDOT staff.

This new rapid transit route connects West Valley City, Taylorsville, Murray, and SLCC, making it easier for riders to access jobs, education and key destinations. MVX buses run every 15 minutes and link to all UTA transit modes, including FrontRunner and TRAX. Dedicated bus lanes along 4700 South and Transit Signal Priority (TSP) help ensure travel is fast and reliable. Even better, MVX is Zero Fare for the first three years, so you can hop on one of the 10 new all-electric buses and enjoy the ride for free until April 2029.

“We hope that this becomes a viable option for employees here at the complex to try transit and see its benefits,” says Transit Division Director Jim Golden.

While the MVX project was led by UTA, UDOT contributed $22.8 million in TTIF funding to help meet federal requirements. UDOT Region Two and Thad Pinkerton from the Transit Division worked closely with the UTA team throughout construction to keep efforts aligned. This coordination helped build strong working relationships that will benefit both agencies for years to come.
