National Work Zone Awareness Week Starts April 20
Thanks to everyone who participated in National Work Zone Awareness Week! Take a look at our employees' “Go Orange” photos from across the state, and check out UDOT’s Instagram post to see how we helped share the message about the importance of work zone safety with the public.
We appreciate all you do to keep our work zones safe!
UDOT will join transportation agencies across the country in recognizing National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW), April 20–24, 2026. This year’s theme, “Safe Actions Save Lives,” highlights how everyday choices—on the job and behind the wheel—protect our crews and the traveling public.
Here’s how you can participate:
Watch the kickoff video from Carlos and take time this week for work zone safety training, discussions and demonstrations with your team.
“Go Orange” on Wednesday, April 22 to show your support for work zone safety. (Send your photos to Hailey Knowlton at hknowlton@utah.gov to be featured on the Employee Resources website and Screen Cloud TVs.)
Follow UDOT social media for safety messages and reminders throughout the week.
Pause for a moment of silence on Friday, April 24, at 1 p.m. to honor those who have lost their lives in work zone incidents.
As construction activity ramps up, these reminders are especially important. Slowing down, staying alert and eliminating distractions help ensure our employees can do their jobs safely and return home each day.
