A UDOT Region Three Family Success Story
Cody Taylor has been a valued member of UDOT Region Three for 13 years. He began his career at the Nephi Maintenance Shed, later joined the Signals crew, and now serves as a Supervising Technician on the ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) team.
Public service runs in the family. Cody’s daughter, Kenzie Abplanalp, first joined Region Three as the Front Desk Office Specialist before moving into the Finance Department—bringing experience from her previous role at the TOC. Her husband, Tyler Abplanalp, joined the Signals team just over a year ago and has quickly become a strong contributor. Most recently, Cody’s other daughter, Kelsie Taylor, transferred from the Traffic Operations Center to take over the front desk role previously held by Kenzie.
While each family member was hired based on their own qualifications, skills, and strong work ethic, their supervisors consistently describe them as standouts—“shining stars” who elevate their teams and embody the values we strive for at UDOT.
We know many families share careers within UDOT, and this is one of the Region Three stories we’re proud of. While we maintain firm standards to avoid nepotism, we strongly encourage everyone to invite talented, dedicated people to consider a career with UDOT. Great people bring more great people—and our teams are better for it.
