Motor Carrier Division Focuses on Human Trafficking Awareness
January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and UDOT’s Motor Carrier Division is actively engaged in this important effort through the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative. From January 12–16, 2026, Motor Carrier staff will participate in the campaign at Utah’s ports of entry, helping raise awareness and identify indicators of human trafficking.
While this work continues year-round, the CVSA initiative provides a focused opportunity to reinforce training, outreach, and awareness. Because America’s highways are a major route for human trafficking, commercial vehicle safety professionals play a critical role in prevention and identification efforts. In the past, this awareness has made a real difference when a UDOT port of entry employee trusted their instincts during a routine inspection, which led to the recovery of a missing child.
Thank you to the Motor Carrier Division for your ongoing commitment to safety, awareness, and protecting vulnerable individuals across Utah’s transportation system.
