Carlos Recognizes Saratoga Springs Shed During Site Visit

Executive Director Carlos Braceras visited the Saratoga Springs shed this week during their spring semi-annual review. During his visit, Danny Caussey was recognized for his efforts in recruiting new talent to the site.
Dan exemplified UDOT’s value of Caring by taking time to mentor Wyatt Holley to help him build his resume and ultimately get a job at UDOT. Dan spent time after working hours to review Wyatt’s resume and help identify his strengths to find a role at UDOT that would allow him to grow. Wyatt is the son of Utah Highway Patrol Colonel Greg Holley, and Colonel Holley wrote Dan (and Carlos) to commend him for going the extra mile to help his son.
Another highlight of the review happened when shed employees showed off a new innovation they developed which allows plows and other large vehicles to be quickly and easily outfitted with versatile front and rear spray units. They can be used for cleaning under crash pads, limiting fire risk when mowing, and managing dust as a modified water truck.
This innovation saves time and resources usually spent on renting or buying specialized vehicles. For example, a typical water truck rental costs about $10,000. The new conversion process takes only a couple of days and requires a one-time cost of approximately $3,000 in parts. Most importantly, these efficiencies also provide a significant safety benefit.
