The Data & Analytics group recently hosted an “Agency Discovery Tour” highlighting UDOT’s AI Strategy and how employees can responsibly use AI in their work. Led by Jennifer Volkening, Director of the Data Analytics and Governance group, the open house introduced key principles guiding UDOT’s AI approach.
The discussion focused on building strong foundations, setting intentional direction through effective prompting, and critically evaluating AI outputs by verifying accuracy and applying professional judgment. A consistent theme was the importance of human oversight in every use of AI.
Employees were encouraged to explore AI in daily workflows, strengthen critical thinking skills, and learn together as teams to help support safer, more efficient operations across UDOT.
