It’s Time to Set Goals for the 2027 Performance Year
On May 1, 2026, all employees were assigned the three standard performance goals in Vantage. You should now have a task in Vantage under the “Performance & Internal Career” tile to edit these goals. The three goals assigned to you are consistent with UDOT’s Employee Development and Performance Management policy, with one behavioral goal and two job-related goals. While the content of the behavioral goal does not need to be edited, the two job-related goals should be edited with a new goal title and additional description.
Because edited goals require supervisor approval, we recommend that you draft goals with your supervisor together using the 2026-2027 UDOT Employee Development and Performance Discussion Tool. You can then have your supervisor copy and paste agreed-upon goals into Vantage. Here are a few important steps to keep in mind while using Vantage:
Any change in goals must be approved by the supervisor before employees see the updated goal in Vantage. Until the supervisor approves the changes, employees will continue to see the original goal. This is why we suggest the supervisor copy and paste agreed-upon goals from the Discussion Tool into Vantage. You will save an approval step and the employee still has the opportunity to review and acknowledge the goals in the “Self Review” step.
The primary three goal titles must start with 1., 2., and 3. so that UDOT’s tracking systems can detect the right goals.
Dates for each goal must be within the performance year, starting May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027.
Employees will be asked to acknowledge the goals under the heading “Self Review” once the goals are entered and approved. The deadline for supervisors to approve goals and for employees to acknowledge them is May 31, 2026.
Training is now available to review the performance management process and walk through the steps of using Vantage. The Performance Management page of the Grow the Good site also has useful resources.
